| Wind turbines harness the power from a breeze. The air flowing past the blades of the turbine causes it to rotate and this rotation is used to drive a generator. The generator is then passes the electrical energy to a battery where it is stored for later use. Larger wind turbines are sometimes connected to the national grid. There are two main types of wind turbines - those where the blades are mounted on the horizontal axis and those where the blades are mounted on the vertical axis. The horizontal axis wind turbines resemble a propeller and have two or three blades. The rotate relatively slowly and make up most of the wind turbines currently used. We can provide wind turbines with between 50 to 600W output which are suitable for supplementing the electrical supply in most houses. We also have larger power output wind turbines that can be used for industrial applications, with the largest - the 200kW capable of powering a small community. The vertical axis wind turbines take up much less space and are gaining popularity for this reason. They rotate much faster than their horizontal axis counterparts and also tend to be less sensitive to wind direction. Our range can provide up to 3kW in power output. |
